My name is Paul Gerace.  I was raised in Brooklyn, New York and now live in Manhattan.  My father gave me my first taste of photography when I was much younger.  He did his own B&W developing and printing and I often helped him in his darkroom.  I enjoyed watching the image appear on the paper and then realizing that it was indeed a moment captured for all time.  He gave me my first camera which was a Nikon F3HP.  I am now using a Nikon CoolPix 7900 as well as a Pentax D10 SLR.

My interests later turned to color photography.  I especially liked the way that colors interacted with each other.  I also enjoy seeing color stand out in non-color scenes.  This can sometimes be due to weather conditions or the urban landscapes that we live in.

This interest in color photography has led to to explore the Caribbean, with much time spent capturing the people and landscapes of the Dominican Republic.  .  Their enthusiasm for life and warm spirit has matched the beauty of the island.  I have also been photographing life here in NYC including Graffiti, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Central Park, and CitiScapes.

I hope you enjoy my images in the following galleries.
